About Me

Hello, I’m Joel Thomas, a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) supervised by Dr. Bryan Duncan (LPC-S). I am deeply committed to helping individuals navigate their mental health challenges and find pathways to healing and growth. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Tarleton State University, where I honed my skills in trauma, substance abuse, depression, and anxiety, as well as issues affecting veterans and teens. Additionally, I specialize in religious trauma, stress management, and culturally sensitive therapy for Asian clientele.

In our work together, you can expect a safe, non-judgmental space where your experiences and feelings are valued and respected. Whether you’re dealing with trauma, struggling with substance abuse, or facing the challenges of depression and anxiety, I am here to walk alongside you and provide the support and tools you need to thrive.

In my leisure time, I enjoy participating in Bible studies, playing video games and D&D, watching anime, and painting miniatures.

I look forward to working with you and supporting you on your path to healing and personal growth.

My Counseling Approach

My approach to therapy is grounded in Existential Humanistic principles, which means I focus on a client-centered method that encourages individuals to explore and deeply question their current life situations. This process helps foster resilience and promotes present-minded problem-solving. I believe that every person has the potential for growth and healing, and I am here to support you on that journey.

In our sessions, I aim to create a supportive and empathetic space where you can deeply explore your thoughts and emotions. By focusing on the present moment and your personal strengths, we will work together to uncover underlying issues and develop practical coping strategies. My goal is to empower you to lead a more authentic and meaningful life.
